Theory Test

Minimum age     16 years
Documents to take when sitting for test Birth Certificate or Passport Proof of Address, Medicare Card/ATM card/Student card  
Road code book Novice driver kit $ 14 from Vic Roads and other outlets
Waiting period if fail Next  day
Theory test Must make appointment, cost $ 28.10,   Computerized test, multiple choice questions. Cost after passing $ 17.80. 
Learner's license Minimum learning 6 months, if under 25 years of age. 3 months, if 25 or over. 

  

Driving Test

Minimum age   18 years  
Hazard perception test before driving test $ 23.90
Practical Test  $ 42.80 (Must be prepaid, Credit card OK). Refundable or transferable only with minimum 24 hours notice
Cost of license $ 42 (3 years)
Eyesight test Must be undertaken after passing
Automatic restriction No restriction, if test taken in Automatic vehicle. 3 years

Above costs do not include the hire of vehicle, which must be supplied by the applicant
